When they put their hands out like scales and 10 weeks
are two individual, but related, exhibitions by Emma Campbell and Leszek Wolnik, showing at The Copper House Gallery in February 2013.
In her show When they put their hands out like scales, Emma Campbell is commenting on the issue of having to travel abroad in order to avail of an abortion in 2013 whilst Leszek Wolnik is responding to the misappropriation of symbols and language by the Pro Life movement in his exhibition titled 10 weeks.
We both hope that these exhibitions will provide a quiet place for the voicing and recording of stories and responses to the struggle for a woman's right to choose over the last decades and to giving a response to the same forces now opposing the current and urgent need for full and adequate legislation for abortion.
This website is intended as an archive of stories and responses of those women, living in Ireland, who have had to travel abroad for an abortion as well as an archive of responses to the misappropriation and misuse of language, symbols and images by the Pro Life movement.
